The client and challenge
As e-commerce boomed, the client, a leader in robotic retrieval systems for warehouses across the U.S., felt significant pressure from end clients to create more efficient ways of picking and packing online orders. It needed to focus its internal bandwidth on the core functionality of its retrieval robots and offload routing and documenting updates to facility grid work for its operations in new warehouses. The client previously experienced inconsistencies with these designs and required a quality-focused solution to outsource this work.

The EASi solution
EASi updated the facility grid work for the warehouses of our customer’s end clients. We laid out the pathing, fencing, entry points and packaging workstations for the client’s retrieval robots. EASi developed a methodology for creating these layouts and documenting interactions with packaging workstations to ensure consistency, quality and efficiency of our designs. With a flexible service team based in one of our own design centers, we were able to scale up support as needed.

The results
EASi supported our client with service requirements at five separate warehouses, which all had unique needs.

The documented process EASi created was applied to effectively scale up support and ensure consistency across all locations, and is still used internally by our client for every new layout it creates.

These layouts are vital to the client, allowing the retrieval robots to function while also allowing for smooth and safe interactions with people working at the packaging stations and monitoring the robots.
